Always A Suspect ran on Saturday March 31st in a very tough Allowance Optional Claimer at Gulfstream Park which had a field loaded with stakes winners. He was mid pack, made a strong middle move, but eventually faded to 7th about 12 lengths from the eventual winner - Outplay. He came back from the race in good order, but has been dealing with a minor left front ankle injury that we feel is hindering his ability to win at this level. It is causing him later in the race to bare out when coming down the stretch. He will be fitted with a different bit for his next start which we are told is like adding power steering. Suspect has been a great horse to watch and is hard knocking horse and always gives it his best against very tough competition. He will remain at Gulfstream Park with trainer Kiaran McLaughlin for another week before shipping to Keeneland for his next scheduled start on April 21st. He will be entered in a 40K claimer for a purse of $40,000 going 7 furlongs on the dirt. Suspect is a KY bred so we hope to win the race and add the KY breeding bonus. Below are a few pictures of him from 4.5.18 at Palm Meadows Training Center.
